Appeal to Authority a cause of concern in tyrannical regimes…
Controversial Khazakstani Ethicist Blee Din Ob Vius has suggested that unquestioning faith in fallible authorities is not the safe and secure moral strategy it seems. He, or perhaps she claims that this technique does pose a risk in those rare cases where people in positions of power act out of self interest. Mr, or maybe Mrs Vius has even suggested that large institutions could ‘theoretically act sociopathically’, which would co-opt the faithful into also acting sociopathically. While of course there has been no documented cases of any large corporations, institutions, politicians, or specialists in any field acting immorally, it is food for thought that evil could hypothetically be magnified by blind obedience. Sir/Madam Vius has raised further heated debate by suggesting that skepticism be allowed for members of the church, not just The Science clergy. Of course, all this is taking a back seat to the more important question of whether Blee Din Ob Vius is deliberately disturbing the peace by not sharing their preferred pronoun.
